In my sustained investigation, I explore the worth of one hundred dollars in various countries. The necessity of money and it's worth, dependent on location in the world, has always fascinated me. There are 180 different currencies in the world and my investigation demonstrates how life is fueled by money, but the society around us is defining the value of the money.
The exploration of my idea reveals as I depict items I can buy, from Russia to Australia to Romania, for one hundred dollars. From a can of caviar, in piece three, to a three-course meal, in piece nine, one hundred dollars can look extremely different depending on where you are in the world. I wanted to exemplify the monetary differences countries can have based on the population that lives there and the way of life. In piece ten, I show how jeans cost one hundred dollars in Dubai, but in piece number six, you can fill up a whole truck full of gas in China. This shows how societal differences vary from country to country as well as the impact of these differences. The world we live in today is fueled by money but the society around us is defining the value of the money.
